What is this? What I am up to?

What is the point of this blog? Who cares about this? How many people know the address of this blog? Well...this blog is my personal tracker. I am aware that it's public and anyone can see. It will not interest anyone until I become a role model for someone. But I know that someone will see this tomorrow. And if it is personal I know could've written it in docs. But I have decided to write it all here because 'Anyone can see' factor will motivate me to keep committed. Also, it makes my writing more clear. Till now, I have failed a lot of times trying to stick to a plan. I am doing this from 5th standard till yesterday but none of those plans did work for more than a week. So, my obsession with the infallible plan is now over. I'm not giving up on planning. From now on, I plan more, I track it more and if it fails again, I'll record the reason and move on with the next plan. All these things have to be in a public space because I have lied enough to mys

Best Indies - Movie 8 - American Graffiti

What is it about - Teenager's one day of life which is full of subtle dramatic moments. That's the last day for some, one pair is all set for a breakup, others want to have a little action. We see many stories in a random sequence. Few characters cross across the stories. This is a very personal, diary-worthy kind of storyline. Only one substory that got my full attention was that of the underage girl trying to date an adult. Those two characters, their journey, and the conclusion were very beautiful. And that is the only story worth writing about. The underage girl is an accidental villain to the lead character. She's the obstacle for his potential date. And that small innocent girl being an obstacle in the story is a very fresh idea. The performance of both the girl and the boy were good. Music is commendable, especially when they bond for the first time and the other girls sled them. The rest of the movie is average. Finding a new date, breakups, car race, and

Best Indies - Movie 7 - Lost in translation

W hat is it about - It's about how two Americans became close friends in Japan. The logline doesn't look like a film story. This film could not have been more subtle. There are very beautiful moments in this film. I love the irony that always comes at the right time on Bill Murray's face. I love Scarlett Johannson's looks and performance. So it's easy to watch this film even if it has no story. There is no much drama here. It's too realistic and forgettable. This film minus performance of those two is close to nothing. The film well shot. The humor is good, but there's only one kind of humor in this whole film. i.e how Bill reacts to the foreign language. The film shows a gradual improvement in their friendship which is good to see. The lead characters are very good guys in this film. We can connect to them because we all get lost once in a while. There is a feminine perspective in this film. I could have guessed that a female wrote this even

Best Indies - Movie 6 - Super size me

What is it about - It's a documentary in which a guy eats only junk food for 30 days to test how it affects. It will influence any viewer to leave the habit of junk eating. The documentary is convincing because we can see the honesty in the film. Nothing looks fake or scripted. This is the victory I guess. It is not a biased documentary because they show valid counters from the opposite side of the debate.  Humour worked at places but I wish it could've been more hilarious. The poster and the intro set those expectations for me. But it could've been difficult making it both hilarious and honest at the same time. Editing is good. The film did not lose pace. Music is average. And that's it. The thought going in my mind right now is - how did this filmmaker get name, fame, and money by just h aving one crazy idea. I know it can't be that simple to execute an idea. He should be a visionary who knew the potential so that he could dedicate 30 days to this

Best Indies - Movie 5 - Mad Max

What is it about - Series of vengeance stories between a good cop-driver and the bad group of people. Most of the film is set on the road. I am a fan of gripping road stories, but this one disappointed me. The plot is simple, straight and clear. Yet, the story is off at times, losing the grip it could've had. The race, accidents, and car- blasts are shot we ll. But the other scenes could've matched that level. This is a film which I can improvise a lot by having the same premise and characters. The premise is promising. The antagonists are super-powerful and have unique character traits. In theory, this should open up many possibilities. Performances were decent. The sound and visuals were fine. But the story was just O -K. We call our people dumb for liking KGF. But we miss the fact that people all over the world celebrate the same kind of stories

Best Indies - Movie 4 - Once

What it is about - Music. Two music people connect and make a song recording. It's this simple They say we will decide whether we like a movie or not in the first few minutes. It is not true for some films though. Long back, when I saw 'It's a wonderful life' I experienced this. And again today! This was an easy watch, but nothing held me until 50 minutes. I was about to quit and then saw a very romantic scene. The scene's realism got me for a few minutes. And then they show a fantastic sequence of them recording an entire song. The song was great. I got goosebumps while hearing it. That made a difference for me in the way I perceive this film. Performance - The performance of both lead characters is great. The guy is a singer himself and all the songs we hear are his songs and it's reflecting on the performance too. He has a love for all those songs and it is good to watch. And the one who beautified this movie is the girl. It didn't even look li

Best Indies - Movie 3 - Sex, Lies, and Videotape

What it is about - The title almost gives out its premise. It's about sex and lies. Videotape plays a major role in the film. Story & Structure - The flow of the film is too smooth. Nowhere it feels like a constructed screenplay. Like any other story, this too has its fair share of coincidences but the brilliant craft subverts it. The conflict of this story is with themselves and with their partners. 4 major characters - Husband(John), Wife(Ann), Husband's friend(Graham), Wife's sister(Cynthia) . Graham's ex Elizabeth is another character who comes in suggestion. A psychiatrist shares good screentime who helps the audience to understand Ann's thinking. The story forgets to resolve the psychiatrist and Ann's relation. The story works fine without that because it had no emotional hook, it was a tool to reveal Ann. I remember the names of every character because they all have strong and unique traits. The great driver of this story is the ego ga
