What is it about - This film is about slackers. People who don't do anything and always have reasons for it. Different people have different reasons but one thing is common - They don't like to work hard.
Engagement Level - I was about to quit this movie at about 30 minutes and a shy boy-girl conversation hooked me up. It was realistic and interesting. And it gave me fuel to watch some more. Then I started enjoying this new pattern and it didn't irritate me to watch. I had to quit about 72nd minute because the film is showing the same things over and over and finally it bored me.
Craft - This movie doesn't have a cinematic quality. Anybody who knows to write dialogues and direct actors can do this. There is no story, so there's no need for a structure. There's nothing exciting in its Cinematography, Editing, and Sound. Though the characters have a great sense of humor, they don't deserve our empathy.
Observations - There are funny dialogues. They have designed some dialogues to irritate viewers. The conversations are of the intellectual kind. Those who already had such conversations can identify them as false arguments. And try to get the irony of what the director is telling. The audience has to be intelligent to understand this film. This film cannot change or move anyone.
All the characters in the film behave in surprising ways. Say, a person does A, B, C or D's in real situations, the characters in the films do the E. The only similarity characters are that most of them talk a lot. It doesn't take EQ to make films like this. This takes great observation skills and the craft to put it together. Anyone can listen to this film on the radio and miss out on very few things.
A couple of dialogues that stood out for me - 1) Interviewer - Did you vote in this general election? Slacker - Hell no. I got less important things to do. 2) Slacker - Passion for Destruction is also a creative passion
